Its long tradition and prestigious reputation has secured its place as one of the leading publishing houses in Austria and in the German speaking world. In 1996 Zsolnay Verlag was acquired by Carl Hanser Verlag in Munich, but has remained in Vienna and continues with its specialised focus on high quality fiction and non-fiction by contemporary Austrian authors as well as international writers in translation. In 2004 Zsolnay acquired Deuticke Verlag. Zsolnay Verlag has also an impressive backlist with the works by esteemed authors such as Leo Perutz, Graham Greene, John Steinbeck, Colette to H.G. Wells.
