Ostap Nozhak

Ostap Nozhak was born on April 28, 1983 in Chortkiv Ternopil region. Full name given at baptism – Ostap Yuri Miroslav.

He graduated from the Shashkevych High school in Chortkiv (2000), the Chernivtsi National Yurii Fedkovych University (2005, Master of Ukrainian Philology). He teaches at the Department of Journalism at Chernivtsi National Yurii Fedkovych University. Ostap is writing a PhD thesis on the history of publishing.

He is the author of the poetry collection “Kohayuchy Serp I Molot Postmodernizmu” (2003), of the numerous publications of poetry, prose, publicism in the pages of the Ukrainian and foreign periodicals, in the online journals and collective collections (Ukraine, Brazil, Hungary). He was a participant and winner of “Molode Vyno” (Kyiv, 2003), of the Vadim Koval Literary Competition (Chernivtsi, 2002, 2003). His works were translated into Portuguese, Hungarian, Byelorussian. Ostap translates from Polish, English, Hungarian, Latin.

He is engaged in photography (participated in collective exhibitions – 2006 and 2009, personal exhibitions – 2007 and 2008), genealogy and foreign languages. Ostap Nozhak  is founder and editor of the family newspaper “Zharynka” (self-publishing house).
